Ground breaking at Immanuel Lutheran was held on April 23rd for the expansion of the church and school to include building a rec center of high school regulation size with seating for 350 and a fitness center which could be used by the community. The fitness center will be in a secure location for use during the day, but the gym will be available to the community during non-school hours.
The current school gym will be converted into a cafeteria and fellowship hall. The 12 classroom addition is for K-5 students, allowing some rooms they previously used to become available for additional preschool classes. Students in grades six through eight will also have a dedicated space to allow for growth.
Building plans include multi-purpose meeting rooms and weekday study rooms. More school security measures and the development of music and art centers are other upgrades.
The newly built areas will be opening in the fall of 2018.
