Institutional GRANTS
Church Extension Fund has been blessed with positive financial results over the nearly 125 year history of the fund. As a way to support ministries in the Michigan District LCMS, grants are occassionally made available to share our financial blessings and to respond to the needs of these churches, schools, and registered service organizations.

In 2024, CEF partnered with the Michigan District to provide funds for a Circuit Convocation. These convocations demonstrated that we are people of hope, vigorously sharing the love of Christ. These Convocations had a tangible impact not only on the churches in the circuit but also on their community.
Every circuit was eligible for a $5,000 grant. In total, CEF granted close to $200,000!
Coming off of the COVID pandemic, church workers were not immune to the burnout that so many other people experienced. CEF wanted to make sure that ministry workers were able to do something to look after their own wellness, and the Ministry Worker Wellness Grant was born.
Over 150 ministries participated in events that ranged from mini-sabbaticals for their pastor, teambuilding events, retreats, and rest & relaxation trips. 3 $10,000 Bonus Grants were awarded to the most creative use of the funds.
CEF and it's partner ministry, Mighty Fortress Foundation, provided over $250,000 to Michigan District Ministries with this grant!
